Austrian artist Oskar Mulley (1891 - 1949 ) was born in Carinthia and taught at the Munich Trade School and the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. In 1918 Oskar moved to Kufstein in Tyrol and there became adept at painting alpine scenes. Most of his artwork is dramatically composed mountainous views, painted in a pastose technique using a spatula. Humans are never visible in works, and only the occasional secluded farmstead or wayside shrine alludes to the presence of man and stands in sharp contrast to the towering immensity of his mountains.
